Line care
If you often hang your entire life's weight on leashes, you want to keep them in good condition for as long as possible. So what can be done to care for leashes?
There is no real way to care for leashes. Dyneema is a material that does not absorb moisture and is surprisingly resistant to most chemicals. It can also withstand UV light quite well, although other materials are even better here. So the motto is: avoid unnecessary mechanical and light stress. Here are our tips:
Always wind up the lines when you take a break. That way no one tramples on them
Avoid dragging the line over ground. Dragging weakens and shortens the line.
Be careful not to hit the tips of the kite when it is on the beach. Constant movement is not good for lines.
Avoid knots. Knots reduce the breaking load by about half. So if you find a knot in your line, try to untie it carefully (chewing on it gently helps) and then inspect it for faults.
Keep your distance. The most common cause of line breakage is kites flying together.
